About Safety Hose Roller
Richard Moore - Founder & Designer
The idea behind the Safety Hose Roller first started in my own backyard. All I wanted was a less tedious and backbreaking way to roll the hoses I was using for my home water system.
Fast forward a few years into my time as a volunteer firefighter, I hurt my back rolling up a hose. Luckily, I had my own health insurance, not all volunteer firefighters do.
As an experienced machinery designer and inventor, this experience prompted me to revisit the basic hose roller design I created for my water system. I wanted a more ergonomic, time and effort-efficient way to roll up sometimes hundreds of feet worth of heavy hoses, that has historically been done by hand, on the ground, bent over.
After researching the idea, I found there were other designs for firehose rollers, however, my design had many desirable features that the others didn’t. Namely, my all-stainless steel design is foldable, portable, and ergonomically designed to be easy to handle and install into almost any tow hitch. This means fewer back injuries and fewer medical/ worker comp claims for your department and volunteer firefighters. This also means less pay for firefighters or losing essential volunteers who are out due to preventable injuries.
If you’re a firefighter, I hope you get to experience my Safety Hose Roller!
